The Rawlings Foundation donates $2 million to Baptist Health La Grange

LA GRANGE, Ky. — Baptist Health La Grange and the Baptist Health Foundation have a lot to celebrate this New Year’s thanks to a generous $2 million donation from The Rawlings Foundation. The gift is the largest in the hospital’s history, and was designated toward the renovation of the Baptist Health La Grange Emergency Department, a project that has been on the hospital’s wish list.

“We are blessed by the gift of a wonderful neighbor and community member,” said Clint Kaho, president of Baptist Health La Grange. “Beverly and George Rawlings and The Rawlings Foundation continually put community first.”

In 2017, The Rawlings Foundation donated $1 million toward the George & Beverly Rawlings Women’s Center, which opened in June 2017.

“It is hard to express our level of gratitude,” said Mary Michael Corbett, executive director of the Baptist Health Foundation of Greater Louisville. “This is the second year that Mr. and Mrs. Rawlings and The Rawlings Foundation has reached out with a priceless gift around the holiday season.”

Kaho added, “This donation follows our recent re-certification as a primary stroke center. It is the perfect way to end what has already been an exciting year of achievement for our hospital.”

While leaders at Baptist Health La Grange had started the initial Emergency Department wish list, The Rawlings Foundation donation will enable them to move forward on the planning process at the start of 2019 with a goal of starting construction in early 2020.

The initial goals for the project include enhancing the patient experience, increasing capacity and improving workflow, efficiency and environment for the Emergency Department physicians and staff.
