By Kerry Steinhofer

DANVILLE, Ky. — Centre College is ranked fifth out of 1,510 colleges nationwide in College Factual’s Best for the Money ranking. This places Centre in the top one percent nationally of all reviewed by College Factual for its value.

Centre’s ranking placement improved by 27 slots, coming in last year being at 32.

College Factual’s Best for the Money ranking takes into account the average yearly cost of the school, the average time students take to graduate and the quality the school provides. Schools that rank highly are offering a good value for the money that students pay to attend.

With Centre’s overall institutional aid totaling more than $35 million, the College’s focus on affordability is among the most generous of any top national college. Ninety percent of incoming first-year students receive aid. Centre offers merit-based awards such as the Grissom Scholars Program, which awards first-generation students full-tuition plus scholarship, and the Lincoln Scholars Program, a full-tuition plus scholarship for students who have the capacity and a deep desire to change the world.

Another factor that works to the College’s favor in value rankings is the Centre Commitment, which guarantees graduation in four years, study abroad and a research or internship opportunity.
