State Rep. Rocky Adkins officially files to run for governor

House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins, D-Sandy Hook.

FRANKFORT, Ky. — State Rep. Rocky Adkins filed paperwork today to run for Kentucky governor.

“I am running because Kentuckians deserve a governor who will stand up for them,” Rocky Adkins said. “People are hungry to have someone in the governor’s office who’s like them — someone they can connect to — someone who will bring decency and respect back to the governor’s office. Kentucky needs seasoned experience and proven leadership, and I’m the candidate that brings that to the table.”

Adkins, a democratic leader in the Kentucky House, is running with Stephanie Horne, a former Jefferson County School Board member and attorney in Louisville.

“It’s an honor to be filing to run as lieutenant governor with Rocky Adkins,” Horne said. “He has dedicated his life to public service and to expanding opportunity for every Kentuckian. He cares about the future of our state and he has the experience needed to make real change.”

Adkins announced his candidacy for governor on Nov. 14, 2018 in Morehead, Ky. The campaign reported earlier this year it had raised over $620,000 in less than two months.

“I never had anything handed to me. I earned everything I have gotten in life,” Adkins said. “I hope to earn the voters’ trust and the opportunity to work with them to build a better Kentucky.”
