Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Steve Lockhart, Pamela C. Howard, Patricia R. May and Elmon L. Walters have been appointed as members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 35th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky.

  • Steve Lockhart, of Pikeville, is a construction owner. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2020; and
  • Pamela C. Howard, of Pikeville, is a retired physical therapist. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2020; and
  • Patricia R. May, of Pikeville, is retired. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022; and
  • Elmon L. Walters, of Pikeville, is a human resources manager for Silverliner LLC. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022.

Phillip L. Castlen and Alex G. Bryant have been appointed as members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 6th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky.

  • Phillip L. Castlen, of Owensboro, is a farmer. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022; and
  • Alex G. Bryant, of Philpot, is an insurance agent. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022.

Judicial Nominating Commissions are composed of seven members, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, two members of the Kentucky Bar Association, and four members appointed by the Governor from among persons not members of the Kentucky Bar Association. Of these four members, there are two representatives of each political party.
