Kentucky American Water now accepting applications for 2019 Environmental Grant Program

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky American Water is now accepting applications for American Water’s 2019 Environmental Grant Program awards. The awards will be available to organizations in Kentucky American Water’s service area, which includes portions of 14 counties: Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Frankfort, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Jackson, Jessamine, Nicholas, Owen, Rockcastle, Scott, and Woodford.

Established by American Water in 2005, American Water’s Environmental Grant Program offers funds for innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds, surface water and/or groundwater supplies through partnerships. Kentucky American Water started offering the grant program in 2006. Since that time the company has awarded more than $195,000 in grant funds.

“Kentucky American Water is pleased to offer this program as one way to recognize and support organizations who share our commitment to protecting the environment and caring for natural resources,” said Dorothy Rader, manager of water quality and environmental compliance.  “We appreciate the work that they do – often on a voluntary basis – and we’re hopeful these grants not only support their efforts but also inspire others to consider what role they can play in environmental stewardship.”

Information and application requirements can be obtained directly from Kentucky American Water’s website at www.kentuckyamwater.com.  Applications must be postmarked by March 29, 2019, and recipients will be notified by April 26, 2019.
