High interest in old Cardinal Stadium seats being sold online

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Interest in buying a piece of the old Cardinal Stadium, now under contract for demolition, is high according to the Kentucky Division of Surplus Property.

DSP on Tuesday began listing seating units—2, 3, 4 and 5 seats—which were sold almost as soon they appeared online at GovDeals.com. More than 100 units were sold and approximately the same number will be available Wednesday beginning at noon. The seats are priced at $50 each.

The seats will continue to be listed at GovDeals.com until Feb. 8 or when the available inventory runs out, whichever happens first. Buyers need to type “Louisville” in the search bar in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Surplus Properties received many calls from potential buyers who were upset saying the seats were not listed. This is a result of buyers purchasing the units almost as soon as they were posted.

According to Surplus Properties, people watching the site will need to “refresh” their browser to be able to see when new units are posted. Additionally, buyers need to be registered with GovDeals.com, otherwise they will not be able to click through to purchase items.
