#LEXGETFIT Week to launch in Lexington in June

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Central Kentuckians will be invited to focus on health and wellness in a new community-wide campaign called #LEXGETFIT. The campaign will culminate between June 1-8, 2019, with a themed week aimed at encouraging people in and around Lexington to eat healthy and get active.

“We have Burger Week, Pizza Week, and Craft Beer Week in Lexington, so we want to bring a new themed week to Lexington that promotes healthy food and fitness options,” said Kurt Simpson, a vice president at Fifth Third Bank who teamed up with over a dozen other community leaders to bring #LEXGETFIT to life.

The themed week will showcase a variety of free or discounted fitness activities from local businesses, a menu of healthy dining options and special offers by local restaurants, and educational sessions taught by local experts at several locations around Lexington. A full calendar of events and directory listings will be available online starting May 1.

The appetite for this new endeavor has been strong with several corporate sponsors signing on including Community Trust Bank, Dean Dorton, Kentucky American Water, Lexington Clinic Foundation, Marshall Lifestyle Medicine, CHI St. Joseph Health, and more. LEX 18 News and LM Communications have agreed to be media partners for the campaign.

Fitness providers and restaurants in Central Kentucky are encouraged to join the directory by visiting lexgetfitweek.com. Sponsorship information is also available on the website for organizations interested in supporting #LEXGETFIT.
