Dean Builds announces new director of business development

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Blanton Coates has been named director of business development at Dean Builds, a Lexington-based industrial and commercial construction company. In this new role, Coates will oversee management of new business and marketing coordination.

“Blanton’s expertise and leadership is a tremendous addition to our team as the company continues to grow,” said David Dean, president of Dean Builds. “He has a great reputation as an experienced project manager, team leader and involved member of the community.”

Coates brings 20 years of construction industry experience to Dean Builds, spanning a variety of roles from superintendent to project manager. Most recently he completed the Sayre Lower School building as project manager at Dean Builds.

“I look forward to establishing new relationships with clients and being a part of Dean Builds’ growth,” said Coates. “I’m grateful to work with a team that is so relationship driven and focused on client satisfaction.”

Coates was originally drawn to the construction industry as a fourth-generation member of his family’s company, Codell Construction. Over 17 years at Codell, Coates completed projects across Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Coates has a B.A. degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Transylvania University. He has received Level III Carpentry Certification from the American Builders and Contractors Association and has completed multiple classes in OSHA Training.

He is an active member of the First Christian Church of Winchester, where he serves as an elder and as chairman of the administrative board. Coates has served on the Transylvania University Alumni-Executive Board and is currently a board member of the Clark County Community Foundation and the Bluegrass Community Foundation.

Coates lives in Winchester, with his wife, Lisa, and three children, Harrison, Callaway and Elizabeth.
