American Leather Direct celebrates ribbon cutting of new $2.8M Warren County distribution facility

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Today, American Leather Direct, Inc. was joined by officials from Warren County, the City of Bowling Green and the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the ribbon cutting for their new distribution facility on Central Avenue in Bowling Green. This $2.8 million project included the construction of a 46,410 square-foot facility and created 11 new jobs in Warren County.

American Leather Direct was formed in 2010 when the family-owned and operated tannery, Industrias Chahin de Orizaba, S.A. de C.V. of Mexico (also known as ChahinLeather) purchased its distributor of more than 26 years. Combined, the tannery and American Leather Direct have over 110 years of experience in producing and selling high-quality leather for a variety of industries. American Leather Direct distributes full grain leather for the production of high-quality finished products.

“We are excited to officially have our new facility open in Bowling Green so that we can better serve our customers. We are thankful for the many people in the community that have supported us during the move.  The Chamber of Commerce and many local businesses have been with us every step of the way.  We are looking forward to celebrating this milestone and opening our doors to the community with the ribbon cutting ceremony,” said Angel Chahin Maluly, owner of American Leather Direct, Inc.

“We are excited for American Leather Direct’s new facility and I congratulate them on this new chapter,” said Ron Bunch, president and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to supporting them on the continual growth of their operations in South Central Kentucky.”

American Leather Direct’s product line includes several leather types in various colors, thicknesses, and temper. Their leather is produced using artisanal vegetable tanning practices, which includes the use of plant extracts and tannins. These leather materials are used in a variety of products including tack for the dairy and equine industries, holsters and slings, knife sheaths, dog collars, furniture, shoelaces, belts and handbags.

“We are excited to celebrate the opening of American Leather Direct in Warren County,” said Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon. “We look forward to seeing the growth of their business in South Central Kentucky.”

“We are so glad American Leather Direct decided to call Bowling Green home in 2018,” said Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson. “The products and services they offer are very unique to our region, making them a great fit for our economy.”
