Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions.

Dr. Lee S. Peplinski and Dr. Freddie M. Mayes have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Board of Optometric Examiners.

• Lee S. Peplinski, of Louisville, is an optometrist. He will serve for a term expiring Feb. 9, 2023; and
• Freddie M. Mayes, of Central City, is an optometrist and tourism director. He will represent optometrists and serve for a term expiring Feb. 9, 2023.

The Kentucky Board of Optometric Examiners regulates the practice and licensure of optometry in the Commonwealth. The Board promulgates regulations concerning professional and business practice standards, continuing education and licensure requirements.

Leah Miller and Timothy Ray Gardner have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners.

• Dr. Leah Miller, of Hebron, is a veterinarian. She will serve for a term expiring Sept. 28, 2021; and
• Dr. Timothy Ray Gardner, of Scottsville, is a veterinarian. He will serve for a term expiring Sept. 28, 2022.
• Dr. Gene Smith, of Hazard, is a veterinarian. He will serve for a term expiring Sept. 28, 2022.

The Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners regulates and controls the licensing and conduct of veterinarians within the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Dr. Horacio Francisco Zaglul has been appointed as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Advisory Committee.

• Horacio Francisco Zaglul, of Lexington, is a pediatrician and professor of pediatrics. He will represent pediatricians and serve for a term expiring Nov. 15, 2020.

The Pharmacy and Therapeutics Advisory Committee advises the Governor, Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Commissioner of the Department for Medicaid Services on development and administration of an outpatient drug formulary.
