Owensboro CYP selected to host 2019 YP Unite Summit

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Greater Owensboro Chamber Young Professionals (CYP) has been selected to host the seventh annual YP Unite Summit. The YP Unite Summit is a regional leadership conference focused on developing young professionals and young professional organizations. This event connects young professionals to promote collaboration, best practices, networking and leadership development.

Owensboro was voted to be the 2019 host from a pool of locations following a proposal submission and panel review. The first-ever Kentucky YP Summit was hosted by the Young Professionals Association of Louisville in 2013 and has continued since. Additional hosts to previous YP Unite Summits in addition to Louisville, Kentucky are Cincinnati, Ohio and Paducah, Kentucky.

“After attending the conference over the last three years, we could not be more thrilled for Chamber Young Professionals to have the honor to host the 2019 YP Summit in Owensboro. We look forward to working with community partners to make this a must-attend event for young professionals across the Commonwealth and surrounding region,” shared Jessica Kirk, Chamber Talent Programs manager.

“The full YP Summit Decision Committee was very impressed with Owensboro’s proposal to host the event.  We are excited for the 2019 YP Unite Summit in Owensboro,” said Ann Marie Maldini, executive director of Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL).

Chamber Young Professionals provides an opportunity for professionals 40 years and younger to network and educate themselves on important issues facing the Greater Owensboro area. Through community service projects, social events, corporate tours and professional development, CYP members develop strong ties in the Owensboro community. The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce encourages members to become more involved throughout the community and to serve as leaders.

“Our Chamber Young Professionals have been the catalyst for so many changes in Owensboro since they reignited in 2016,” said Candance Castlen Brake, Chamber president and CEO. “Being chosen by their peers from around the state to host the YP Summit demonstrates that their energy is creating a buzz across the Commonwealth.  We are delighted with this honor and we look forward to planning a summit that shows how Owensboro is a place for Millennials to thrive!”

Brake added, “Talent recruitment and retention is paramount to our economic future here, and this is another fact that demonstrates the wind is at our back.”

Conference and ticket details will be available in the coming months. Sponsorship opportunities are currently available.
