State’s Election Office names new deputy chief election administrator

Sandra Milburn

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced Thursday that Sandra Milburn, training officer at the State Board of Elections, will join the Secretary of State’s Election Office as deputy chief election administrator, effective July 1.

Milburn has 29 years of experience as a legal assistant and 15 years as the State Board of Elections’ assistant director and training officer.

Milburn will work alongside Director of Elections Mary Sue Helm. Helm has more than 30 years of election experience in the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office and State Board of Elections combined.

“As we prepare for the 2020 presidential election, my top priority is to ensure this office maintains the necessary experience to administer elections and is ready to assist the incoming Secretary of State,” said Grimes, the commonwealth’s chief election official. “Ms. Milburn needs no training wheels. She has decades of hands on election experience and will be an asset to the Office of the Secretary of State.”
