ERLANGER, Ky. — Riverbend Pointe, A Flagship Community, won the 2019 Community of the Year presented by the Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute (KMHI) at its recent conference at the President’s Annual Awards Banquet in Florence, Indiana.

CEO Kurt Keeney of Flagship Communities (formerly SSK Communities) purchased this community 2015 during a state of disrepair. Older, abandoned homes were removed and replaced with new homes. Riverbend Pointe was selected for this award based on the owners’ exceptional dedication and determination in regard to the manufactured housing industry. “They conduct their day-to-day business in a professional and business-like manner and is in accordance with the KMHI’s Code of Ethics. They demonstrate outstanding leadership in the industry on the local, state, and/or national levels,” said Logan Hanes of KMHI.

“On behalf of our staff and community residents, we are honored to receive this award and recognition for the work we have done to transform the community,” said Flagship CEO Kurt Keeney.

The community now has a clubhouse, playground and storage areas for the residents (RV’S, boats, etc.), soccer field, basketball courts, re-paved streets, repaired drainage issues, repaired sidewalks, added full-time community manager and full-time community maintenance personnel on site. Essentially, the community has been transformed into almost a like new neighborhood.

KMHI awards individuals who are respected by other manufactured housing industry representatives and who inspire and motivate other industry individuals to excel through personal example and commitment through their significant contributions of their talents, time, and experience to promote the growth of the manufactured housing industry.

Founded by college friends Kurt Keeney and Nathan Smith in 1994, the company was named to the Business Courier’s Fast 55 list of the region’s fastest growing companies in 2016, 2017 and once again in 2018, and has also been a semi-finalist two times for the Goering Center’s Family & Private Business Awards.
