Kentucky Derby Museum offering Twilight Tours every Wednesday

Visitors can experience the magic of the Twin Spires at night

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — School’s out, summer’s here, and Kentucky Derby Museum is ramping up its tours for vacation season. Get your phone ready to snap pictures of the Instagram-worthy views you will encounter from all points on the Twilight Tour. Guests will experience the magic of the famous Twin Spires in the glow of the night. The Twilight Tour of Churchill Downs Racetrack takes visitors through the courtyard, paddock, grandstand, Millionaire’s Row and the fine dining rooms.

Perhaps the favorite stop on the tour, guests can pose on the balcony next to the iconic Twin Spires overlooking the track for a selfie. Guests will also hear great stories, including jockey Bill Shoemaker misjudging the Finish Line in the 1957 Derby, the 1933 Fighting Finish and the late 19th century dominance of African-American jockeys.

Typically, these tours are offered once a month. Now through September, Twilight Tours will be offered every Wednesday.

  • $15 per person (does not include Museum admission)
  • 7 p.m. Eastern Time each Wednesday through September
  • Tickets must be purchased in advance
  • Guests should arrive at the Barbaro Statue in front of the Museum at least fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled departure time

Guests can use code “SPIRES” to get $5 off when buying Twilight Tour tickets Wednesday, June 26.
