Gov. Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Mardi E. Montgomery has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education.

  • Mardi E. Montgomery, of Somerset, is the senior director of workforce development and community engagement for Eastern Kentucky University. She will represent the public-at-large and serve for a term expiring July 21, 2023.

The Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education was established by action of the 2012 Kentucky General Assembly, replacing the Board of Proprietary Education. The Commission licenses and regulates all proprietary schools doing business in Kentucky, other than those that offer a four year bachelor’s degree. In addition, it administers the Student Protection Fund, which reimburses eligible students in the event a school closes, loses its accreditation or discontinues a program.

Adam Lambert Hinton has been appointed as a member of the Morehead State University Board of Regents.

  • Adam Lambert Hinton, of Flemingsburg, is vice president of Hinton Mills, a small business owner, and director of the Kentucky Welding Institute. He will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025.

The Morehead State University Board of Regents consists of eight members appointed by the Governor and three additional members, including a teaching faculty representative, a non-teaching employee representative and the student body president. Board members serve six-year terms.

Andrá R. Ward has been appointed as a member of the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents.

  • Andrá R. Ward, of Cincinnati, is president and CEO of The KhafreWard Corporation. He will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025.

The Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents consists of eight members appointed by the Governor and three additional members, including a teaching faculty representative, a non-teaching employee representative and the student body president. Board members serve six-year terms.

Melanie House-Mansfield has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky State University Board of Regents.

  • Melanie House-Mansfield, of Louisville, is an educator with extensive community volunteerism and advocacy experience. She will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025.

The Kentucky State University Board of Regents consists of eight members appointed by the Governor and three additional members, including a teaching faculty representative, a non-teaching employee representative and the student body president. Board members serve six-year terms.

Christopher James Girdler has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents.

  • Christopher James Girdler, of Somerset, is president of the Somerset-Pulaski County Development Authority, a former state senator, and a small business owner. He will serve for a term expiring July 21, 2025.

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents is consists of eight members appointed by the Governor and six additional members, including two members each of the teaching faculty, non-teacher personnel and student body, representing the respective KCTCS community and technical colleges. The Board of Regents oversees the KCTCS.

Richard Ryan Nelson has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

  • Richard Ryan Nelson, of Cadiz, is executive director of the Commonwealth Policy Center. He will represent the Supreme Court District 1 and serve for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2022.

Established as part of the education reforms set forth in the Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997, the Council on Postsecondary Education is Kentucky’s statewide postsecondary and adult education coordinating agency. The Governor appoints the Council members, which include 13 citizens, one faculty member and one student member; the Commissioner of Education is an ex-officio member.

Joe Rollin Bowen, Cathy A. Black and Anthony Charles (A.C.) Donahue have been appointed as members of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.

  • Joe Rollin Bowen, of Owensboro, is a retired state senator and retired small business owner. He will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025; and
  • Cathy A. Black, of New York, is a senior producer for CBS News. She will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025; and
  • Anthony Charles (A.C.) Donahue, of Somerset, is a self-employed attorney. He will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025.

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees is made up of 20 members: 16 members appointed by the Governor, two faculty representatives, one non-teaching personnel representative and one student body representative.

Charles “Leon” Owens has been appointed as a member of the Murray State University Board of Regents.

  • Charles “Leon” Owens, of Paducah, is president of Swift & Staley, Inc. He will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2025.

The Murray State University Board of Regents is made up of eight members appointed by the Governor and three other members, including a teaching faculty representative, a non-teaching employee representative and the student body president. Members serve six-year terms.
