Lexington Marriott City Center hires pastry chef

Tyler Donahue

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Tyler Donahue has been named pastry chef of Lexington Marriott City Center, the hotel company announced Tuesday.

Donahue will be creating the menus and guiding the pastry team for The Greatroom Restaurant, Infinity: a Sky bar and Café, and the meetings and events at the hotels.

“Tyler has an unmatched eye for detail and a passion for perfection. He brings such a unique perspective to our team and our hotel. I cannot wait to see what he can accomplish here,” said Chef TJ Harville, executive chef of Lexington Marriott City Center Hotels.

Born and raised in Versailles, Ky., Donahue realized his passion for cooking at a young age, working with his grandmother in the kitchen to help feed the family during holidays. After earning a culinary degree at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, N.C., Donahue went on to work at three Ritz Carlton hotels and resorts including one in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands and two hotels in the Washington D.C. area.

He was an integral part of the opening team at the AAA Five Diamond Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa in Grand Cayman.

“I am passionate about fresh produce, local flavors and constantly pushing the creative boundaries to develop and execute new and exciting menu items,” said Donahue. “I’m excited to bring my luxury pastry expertise to Lexington and build a program that leaves a lasting legacy on the bluegrass area.”

Donahue lives in Lexington, Ky. with his bichon frise mix Annie.
