World Trade Center Kentucky names interim executive director

Sherry Mulkins

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The World Trade Center Kentucky Board of Directors announced recently the appointment of Sherry Mulkins as interim executive director, following the departure of Ed Webb in 2019.

Serving the World Trade Center Kentucky since 2013, Mulkins works to create awareness of global trade and strives to assist companies in growth through international business. During her time at the center, she has successfully led six international and domestic trade and business missions, and has implemented strategies to advance educational programs, webinars and events. She continues to build partnerships and vital relationships that will help current and future companies utilize resources for increasing exports and imports in the commonwealth.
Mulkins has extensive experience working in non-profits, including grant writing, budget development and program development and implementation. Before World Trade Center Kentucky, she was the executive director at the St. Matthews Area Chamber of Commerce in Louisville, Ky. for 10 years. She excelled at growing membership and helping local Kentucky companies increase business and expand.
Mulkins currently serves on the National Association of Women Business Owners foundation board as well as the Center of International Business and Training. Among her many accolades, she was recently recognized as top 20 People to Know in Economic Development in the region.
“We are excited that Mulkins has agreed to serve in this capacity as we continue implementing our transition plan,” said John McPherson, chairman of World Trade Center Kentucky Board of Directors. “The World Trade Center Kentucky is committed more than ever to building upon our recent successes and working to grow trade and enhance economic development across the commonwealth.”
