LEBANON, Ky. — The Marion County Industrial Foundation invites former employees and their family members to a Sept. 9 ceremony honoring the economic impact of the industries housed at 405 Old Springfield Road, popularly known as the Jane and Linda building.
The ceremony will mark a new beginning for the site, which was home to three major employers between 1946 and 1993: Handmacher-Vogel, Telecom, and Jane and Linda Sportswear. At 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, guests can join the MCIF in celebrating our community’s industrial heritage and a new future for this valuable property at the gateway to Lebanon.
The event will be held at the existing structure and all are welcome. Elected officials and key former employees will be among the speakers and refreshments are planned for those in attendance. There will also be a final official tour of the facility led by city and county representatives and the General Contractor, Marion Co. Welding and Fabrication.
Partners in the celebration ceremony include Mayor Gary Crenshaw and the Lebanon City Council, Judge-Executive David Daugherty and the Marion County Fiscal Court, and the Lebanon Enterprise, which will provide on-site exhibits, including photos.
After sitting unoccupied for over 20 years, the MCIF purchased the property earlier this summer, with demolition scheduled to begin Sept. 14. Once the site is cleared, the MCIF will market the property for an economic development use.
