UPIKE moves to level four within COVID-19 Guidelines

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — After receiving confirmation of additional positive COVID-19 cases on campus, UPIKE moved to level four within its UPIKE COVID-19 Guidelines at 8 p.m. Monday.

The campus’ undergraduate colleges will remain at level four for at least 72 hours. A level four alert will provide the university additional time to ensure proper sanitization and will allow the Pike County Health Department (PCHD) ample time to complete their process of contact tracing.

UPIKE officials continue to work closely with the PCHD and the state epidemiologist regarding isolation, quarantine and guidelines associated with campus life.

The safety of students is the university’s top priority and the UPIKE COVID-19 Guidelines help to protect all members of the UPIKE family and the local community.

“UPIKE’s guidelines were created with this scenario in mind,” said UPIKE President Burton Webb. “We have been preparing for this moment since we knew we were welcoming students back to campus this fall. UPIKE is working with all the proper state and local officials to ensure the safety of our campus and our community, and we will continue to lead with the health and safety of others as our guide.”
