Bourbon online auction set at Kentucky Speed Art Museum

Louisville, Ky. — The Speed Art Museum will host its third annual Art of Bourbon auction, Thursday, Oct. 15, in Louisville, Kentucky.

The museum will hold an online auction 7-9 p.m. of rare whisky, experiences, and single-barrel selections. Thirty-four lots will be up. Registration is required at artofbourbon.org with a pre-show at 6:30 p.m. featuring Bourbon expert, author and spirits judge Fred Minnick.

The auction is a fundraiser for the Louisville museum. A rep said the auction supports the museum’s exhibits and educational programming. In the past, it has been both live and virtual, but like many other events this year it shifted to virtual because of coronavirus concerns.

The auction comes on the heels of Old Rip Van Winkle’s upcoming Bourbon release of six bottles. For several years, an auction in state stores has been held throughout Ohio for the allotment, drawing thousands of Bourbon lovers across the state for a lottery. The museum’s auction will feature a 1964 Black Bowmore 50-Year-Old that could fetch up to $80,000, according to a press release.
