LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky tradition Kern’s Derby-Pie announced their newest dessert product, Derby-Pie Bourbon Ice Cream, is hitting the shelves just in time for the Kentucky Derby. It is churned locally in Louisville by family owned-and-operated Bernoulli Small Batch Ice Cream, a premium ice cream maker founded six years ago in the River City.
“Kern’s Kitchen allowed us to blend their legendary homemade pie baked with premium chocolate, walnuts and a decadent filling into our gourmet vanilla-based ice cream made with Kentucky Proud ingredients including a subtle hint of good Kentucky bourbon,” said Bernoulli President Allysan Comstock.
The collaboration between Kern’s and Bernoulli’s started over seven years ago when Alan Rupp befriended the Comstock family and mentored Brian and Allysan, both entrepreneurs with a long love of ice cream which developed when the married couple started dating.
Derby-Pie Bourbon ice cream is available on the shelves and on menus at Valumarket MidCity Mall; Valumarket Outer Loop; Crossroads IGA at Beckley Station, Billtown Road and Prospect; Prospect Party Center in Prospect; Bristol Bar and Grille; Derby City Pizza in Pleasure Ridge Park and UofL; Gaslight Diner;Highview Ice Cream & Coffee; and the Hyatt Downtown.
