Kentucky attorney named to global “Top 250 Women in IP” list

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mandy Wilson Decker, an attorney with Stites & Harbison PLLC, has been named to Managing Intellectual Property magazine’s 2021 “Top 250 Women in IP.”

It is the seventh time Decker has been honored on the list. She is the only Kentucky attorney on the list.

The “Top 250 Women in IP” list recognizes the leading female intellectual property lawyers at the international level. Nominees are selected from the global research conducted for Managing IP’s 2021 “IP Stars” list, which includes extensive client and peer interviews.

Decker is a registered patent attorney and a member (partner) based in Stites & Harbison’s Lexington and Louisville offices. Her practice focuses on intellectual property protection strategy, including counseling clients on infringement, validity and patentability, transfer of intellectual property, patent drafting, and patent prosecution. Contributing to her practice is a scientific background in chemistry and experience with academic and commercial research in the areas of biochemistry, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical sciences.

Decker is regularly called upon to speak across the country on issues relating to patent prosecution, protecting intellectual property, intellectual property strategies in a global marketplace, and life sciences technologies.

Within Stites & Harbison, Decker serves as chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. Outside of the firm, she is active in a variety of professional and community organizations. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Association of University Technology Managers, the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section, and the American Health Lawyers Association. Additionally, Decker is a member of Leadership Louisville Center, the Legal Aid Society’s Justice for All Campaign Committee, and Saint Agnes Parish Council.
