Alan Long with Baldwin CPAs appointed to National Association of State Boards of Accountancy

Alan Long

RICHMOND, Ky. — Baldwin CPAs Managing Member Alan Long has been appointed to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy 2018-2019 Standard-Setting and Professional Trends Advisory Committee.

As a driving force within the accounting profession for more than 100 years, NASBA has been dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of the country’s 55 state boards of accountancy. The organization creates a forum for accounting regulators and practitioners to address issues relevant to the viability of the accounting profession.

The Standard-Setting and Professional Trends Advisory Committee is a national-level committee comprised of eight highly vetted CPAs.

The committee monitors and objectively evaluates processes of standard setters. Standard setters develop guidelines of quality and accepted practices for auditors. In addition, the committee monitors and evaluates disruptive trends in the profession, as well as recommends process improvements, when warranted, and advises Boards of potential disruptive trends impacting the regulation of the profession.

Long has served as managing member of Baldwin CPAs for the past 22 years, and has an extensive resume of serving the profession, including: member of the Kentucky Society of CPAs (KyCPA) Peer Review Committee, past-president of the KyCPA, American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Peer Review Program, AICPA Oversight Task Force Chair, member of the AICPA Peer Review Joint Task Force, AICPA regulatory member and member of the Standard Task Force of the Peer Review Board, and NASBA Compliance Assurance Committee. Alan is currently on the AICPA’s Practice Monitoring of the Future Task Force and a member of the AICPA Auditing Standards Board.
