KFEC executive director appointed to new roles in financial literacy

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Financial Empowerment Commission (KFEC) is pleased to announce Executive Director Matt Frey was recently elected to be President-Elect of the KY Jump$tart Coalition. Frey was also appointed to be the co-chair of the National Association of State Treasurer’s (NAST) Financial Education Caucus.

“KFEC has grown so much in the past eight months. These two opportunities give us the opportunity to be more involved in the financial literacy community in Kentucky and nationally.” Frey said. Frey will begin his term as Jump$tart Coalition President in December of 2022 and will serve for one year. His position with NAST begins immediately and the term is indefinite.

Frey is a Campbell County native. He started at KFEC in April of 2021. The Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition is focused on improving financial literacy and money management skills.

Tom Anonson, Executive Vice President, from Class Act Federal Credit Union was elected as Treasurer. Laura Clewett from the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions
was elected to be the Secretary.

The National Association of State Treasurers serves as the nation’s foremost authority for responsible state treasury programs and related financial practices, policies, and education. Starting in December, Matt Frey was appointed to be co-chair of NAST’s financial education caucus.
