Bardstown Bourbon Company releases collaborative series with Founders Brewing

By The Bourbon Flight

As the latest iteration of its acclaimed Collaborative series, The Bardstown Bourbon Company’s new release brings together bourbon and beer in partnership with Founders Brewing, available at the distillery gift shop Wednesday, February 9 at Noon EST and distributed where Bardstown Bourbon Company products are sold.

This collaboration begins with 10-year aged Tennessee bourbon which is then finished for 15 months in Founders Brewing KBS Stout Barrels. The resulting spirit is rich and complex, offering a compelling blend of cocoa, orange peel and roasted malt that leads to dark chocolate, hazelnut and black cherry on the palate. Presented at 110 proof, it’s rounded out with a warm, inviting finish.

“The robust profile is a direct result of the care and coordination in shipping these flavorful barrels. The day they are emptied in Grand Rapids, they are filled with bourbon in Bardstown. The rich waves of chocolate malt from KBS carry through the entire aging process and balance beautifully with classic bourbon,” said Dan Callaway VP of Product Development and Master Blender.

The spirit of collaboration is core to the Bardstown Bourbon Company, which boasts the first of its kind custom distilling offering over 50 mash bills.

“Our collaborations are an expression of our commitment to community and alchemy. Bardstown Bourbon Company is a neutral ground for the sharing of ideas and best business practices in distilling, the culinary arts and hospitality,” said Brooke Berry, Marketing Director. “We lean into partnerships with brands that have similar passions. Our Founders collaboration is an invitation to two sets of loyal followers to adventure into new flavors together and to invite others to enjoy both products with food in unique ways.”

The Collaborative Series marks exclusive offerings of extremely limited bourbons finished in wine, brandy, beer and other spirits barrels. Prior releases include Phifer Pavitt, The Prisoner, Copper & Kings, Maison Ferrand and more. Bardstown Bourbon Company’s Collaborative Series releases have received critical acclaim including “Best in Class” honors at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in both 2020 (Phifer Pavitt #1) and 2021 (Château de Laubade). Several releases are slated for 2022 including Plantation Rum and a second Château de Laubade release.

Since 2016, Bardstown Bourbon Company has gained acclaim as a custom distiller, producing more than 50 different mash bills for 25 of the finest whiskey and bourbon brands in the world, and building one of the most technically sophisticated and flexible distilleries in the country. In 2018 Bardstown brought its own branded products directly to consumers online and in 20 markets, with plans to be available nationwide by 2025.
