BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — John S. West joined the law firm of English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley, LLP as Senior Counsel, effective September 1, 2022.
John is a seasoned trial attorney with over three decades of litigation experience. Over the last twenty years, he has focused on environmental law issues involving water, air, waste management and natural resources.
Prior to joining English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley, John worked for the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet representing the Division of Water Quality, Division of Air Quality, Division of Waste Management, and the Division of Natural Resources.
West has navigated a broad range of environmental issues and also has 30 years of labor arbitration practice, where he has been listed with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service since 1993.
When not litigating for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, John continued to develop his extensive labor arbitration practice. He is published and cited as an authority in the legal treatise ELKOURI & ELKOURI, HOW ARBITRATION WORKS (7th ed. 2012). John is also a published author of labor arbitration decisions in Labor Arbitration Reports, by the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc., and Labor Relations Reporter, published by CCH, Inc.
John received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Political Science from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, in 1986 and his Juris Doctorate from Catholic University of America, Washington, DC in 1989. He has been a member of the Kentucky Bar Association since 1990 and a member District of Columbia Bar Association since 1991. He is also licensed in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the United States Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia.
