Sun Country Airlines soars into Louisville Muhammad Ali Airport

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sun Country Airlines announced Louisville would be one of the airline’s newest destinations. Sun Country will offer nonstop service to Minneapolis (MSP) from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) beginning on May 4, 2023 – just in time for next year’s Kentucky Derby.

“This is a great day for the Louisville as we welcome Sun Country to Bourbon Country,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “Sun Country provides area travelers another option to reach the Twin Cities and offers low-fare connections to other major destinations in the west.”

Sun Country, an ultra-low-cost carrier, will add a low-fare option between the Twin Cities and Bourbon City. These new flights help area travelers reach Minneapolis to enjoy the areas parks, shopping and unique cultural experiences while allowing more opportunities for Minnesotans to experience all the things that have made Louisville a thriving tourist destination.

Additionally, the new service will open more low-fare connections via the airline’s extensive network throughout the US, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Canada – giving travelers even more ways to reach their favorite vacation destination.

Nonstop service from Louisville to Minneapolis will be offered twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays using a Boeing 737 with 186 seats. Tickets are currently on sale at www.SunCountry.com.

“We’re excited to launch this new, nonstop route for Minnesotans who want to explore the Louisville area and all it has to offer,” says Grant Whitney, Chief Revenue Officer at Sun Country Airlines. “The region has a world-class reputation built on great attractions – including Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, historical districts, museums, art, food and so much more. It appeals to travelers of all ages with many different interests. We’re thrilled to add the Bourbon City to our growing Sun Country network.”
