By wmadministrator

More Kentuckians registered to vote in the recent general election than ever before, according to figures released by the Kentucky State Board of Elections.

In total, 2,840,898 citizens appeared on Kentucky’s voter rolls for the general election earlier this month, eclipsing the previous record of 2,795, 013, which was set for the 2007 primary election.

Compared to the 2003 general registration figures, there has been a 5 percent net increase in total voters, a 1.94 percent increase in those registered as Democrats, a 9.92 percent increase in those registered as Republicans, and a 6.28 percent increase in those registered as “other.”

Registration figures showed little change in the percentage of male and female voters with females representing nearly 53 percent of the registration population and males representing 47 percent.
