Forty businesses from 11 Kentucky cities earned the distinction of being included on Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list, a compilation of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the country. The 2007 Inc. 5000 list measured revenue growth from 2003 through 2006. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.-based and privately held, independent as of Dec. 31, 2006, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2003 and $2 million in 2006.
Of the 40 Kentucky companies on the Inc. 5000 list, two companies – Hitcents and CandyRific – qualified for the traditional Inc. 500 list. Bowling Green-based Hitcents, ranked at No. 191, develops Web sites and software, including self-checkout software systems for retailers. CandyRific, headquartered in Louisville, develops and manufactures items that are part candy, part toy, such as the “2-in-1 Etch-a-Sketch Lollipop.” CandyRific was listed at No. 322.
