German confectioner Zentis has located the company’s first North American operation in the former Ready Pac plant in Plymouth, Ind.
The Plymouth plant is set to begin operations this month, producing fruit and dairy preparations for customers such as bakeries and ice cream and yogurt manufacturers.
Headquartered in Aachen, Germany, the company employs 1,500 people and operates similar production facilities in Hungary and Poland. Zentis anticipates hiring more than 100 people for its Plymouth plant within the next five years.
Zentis joins a growing list of German companies who are investing in Indiana’s economy. German companies currently employ more than 26,000 people in Indiana, invest more than $8.6 billion in Indiana’s economy and are the second-largest foreign investor in the state.
