Governor names commonwealth’s attorneys, makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 26, 2012) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear appointed Thomas B. Wine as commonwealth’s attorney for the 30th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution. This order is effective Jan. 1, 2013. Wine, of Louisville, is a retired judge and is commonwealth’s attorney-elect. The appointment replaces R. David Stengel, who resigned effective Dec. 31.

Gov. Beshear appointed Ronnie Goldy Jr. as commonwealth’s attorney for the 21st Judicial Circuit of Kentucky to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution. This order is effective Jan. 1, 2013. Goldy, of Morehead, is commonwealth’s attorney-elect. The appointment replaces Keen W. Johnson, who resigned effective Dec. 31.

Gov. Beshear appointed Courtney T. Baxter as commonwealth’s attorney for the 12th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution. This order is effective Jan. 1, 2013. Baxter, of Crestwood, is commonwealth’s attorney-elect. The appointment replaces Barry D. Moore, who resigned effective Dec. 31.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Gordon Lakes as magistrate for the 3rd District of Jackson County to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution. Lakes, of McKee, works at Okonite Cable Company. The appointment replaces Doug Rose.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Jon W. Ackerson to the Unemployment Insurance Commission to serve for a term expiring Oct. 26, 2016. This order is effective Jan. 1, 2013. Ackerson, of Jeffersontown, is an attorney. He represents employers.

Gov. Beshear appointed Hilma S. Prather to the board of directors of the Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement Corp., to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending April 12, 2014. Prather, of Somerset, is retired. She represents the 5th Congressional District. The appointment replaces Bige Hensley, who resigned.

Gov. Beshear reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy to serve for terms expiring Jan. 1, 2017. This order is effective Jan. 2, 2013:

• Larry A. Hadley, of Frankfort, is co-owner and a pharmacist at Wayne’s Pharmacy.

• Joel C. Thornbury, of Pikeville, is a pharmacist at Nova Pharmacy.

Gov. Beshear reappointed William G. Finn to the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Funding Commission Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2016. Finn, of Louisville, is a business manager at IBEW Local Union 369. He represents labor.

Gov. Beshear reappointed the following members to the Board of Claims and Crime Victims Compensation Board to serve for terms expiring July 1, 2016:

• James F. Sullivan, of Frankfort, is a consultant at The Flint Group. Sullivan shall serve as chair of the Board of Claims.

• Jo Ann Phillips, of Louisville, shall serve as chair of the Crime Victims Compensation Board.

Gov. Beshear appointed the following members to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 26th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky:

• Tina R. Blanton, of Wallins, is a clerk at Cumberland Jewelry. The appointment replaces Charles H. Guyn, whose term expired. Blanton shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.

• Rosemary Hamm, of Baxter, is retired. The appointment replaces Donald G. Parsons, whose term expired. Hamm shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.

• Jeremy O. Jackson, of Baxter, is a physician at Harlan Appalachian Regional Healthcare. The appointment replaces Robert M. Forester, whose term expired. Jackson shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2016.

• Julie A. Jackson, of Harlan, is a family nurse practitioner at Appalachian Regional Healthcare. The appointment replaces Debby Howard, whose term expired. Jackson shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2016.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Hollis L. Alexander as Trigg County judge-executive.  Alexander, of Cadiz, is chief of police in Cadiz. This order is effective Jan. 1, 2013. The appointment replaces Stan Humphries, who resigned.
