Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2013) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed Phillip W. Bale to the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2015.

  • Phillip W. Bale, of Glasgow, is a family physician at T.J. Health Partners LLC. The appointment replaces Rob Wilkey, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the University of Louisville Board of Trustees:

  • Emily S. Bingham, of Louisville, is a historian. The appointment replaces Owsley Brown Frazier, who is deceased. Bingham shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2013.
  • Douglas R. Hall, of Louisville, is executive vice president of Evergreen Rehabilitation. The appointment replaces Augusta B. Holland, who has resigned. Hall shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2016.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Board of Directors to serve for terms expiring Jan. 26, 2018:

  • Dorothy W. Johnson, of Elizabethtown, is human resources director at Superior Maintenance Co.
  • Carolyn D. Thomason, of Leitchfield, is a part-time educator at Western Kentucky University and the owner of Grayson County Insurance Associates.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors:

  • Betty Brockway, of Murray, is retired. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Marian S. Davis, whose term has expired. Brockway shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 23, 2015.
  • John R. Rigney, of Glasgow, is a licensed professional clinical counselor. He represents certified professional counselors. The appointment replaces Judy L. Bradley, whose term has expired. Rigney shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 23, 2016.
  • Kim A. Naugle, of Richmond, is a professor and associate dean at Eastern Kentucky University. He represents certified professional counselors. The appointment replaces Timothy C. Robertson, whose term has expired. Naugle shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 23, 2016.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Daya S. Sandhu to the board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 23, 2015.

  • Daya S. Sandhu, of Louisville, is a professor at the University of Louisville. He represents certified professional counselors.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Maria Fernanda Nota to the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs to serve for a term expiring Dec. 20, 2016.

  • Maria Fernanda Nota, of Prospect, is a physician at the University of Louisville. The appointment replaces Cynthia E. Stewart, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Katherine C. Eversole to the commission to serve for a term expiring Dec. 20, 2016.

  • Katherine C. Eversole, of London, is an educational consultant at Kentucky Education Development Corp.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Assistive Technology Loan Corporation Board of Directors to serve for terms expiring Feb. 25, 2017:

  • Rowena G. Holloway, of Willisburg, is an internal policy analyst for the Kentucky Commission on Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She represents public members.
  • Sandra L. Williams, of Louisville, is an independent living counselor at Kentucky Office for the Blind. She represents public members.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Kathy C. Vance to the Manufactured Home Certification and Licensure Board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 1, 2016.

  • Kathy C. Vance, of Frankfort, is retired. She represents members at large. The appointment replaces Cathy Hinko, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 1, 2016:

  • Jeffery M. Bundy, of Eubank, is a mobile home retailer at Kentucky Homes Inc. He represents manufactured or mobile home dealers.
  • James M. Shanks, of Dry Ridge, is a self-employed contractor. He represents manufactured or mobile home installers.
  • Amie Jo Hacker, of London, is a sales representative at Parkplace Homes. She represents manufactured or mobile home dealers.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Marian K. Lancaster to the Kentucky Board of Certification for Professional Art Therapists to serve for a term expiring July 15, 2016.

  • Marian K. Lancaster, of Louisville, is a self-employed psychotherapist. The appointment replaces Frances A. Belvin, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Lewis L. Sargent to the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology to serve for a term expiring March 6, 2016.

  • Lewis L. Sargent, of Lexington, is retired from IBM. He represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Bettyruth Bruington, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Jan J. Weisberg to the board to serve for a term expiring March 6, 2016.

  • Jan J. Weisberg, of Frankfort, is an otolaryngologist and represents otolaryngologists.

Gov. Beshear has appointed T. Clay Mason to the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 20, 2015.

  • T. Clay Mason, of Lawrenceburg, is a public safety commissioner at Lexington Fayette County Government. The appointment replaces Carlus E. Slone, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expired Sept. 20, 2015:

  • Tara W. Hagerty, of Louisville, is the chief deputy clerk, Family and Juvenile Court, for the Jefferson Circuit Court Clerk.
  • Jennifer A. Moore, of Louisville, is an attorney at Grossman & Moore PLLC.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission to serve for terms expiring Oct. 20, 2016:

  • Brian C. House, of London, is a mediator at Brian C. House Mediations. The appointment replaces David Sutton, whose term has expired.
  • Robert Schley Cox, of Owensboro, is a self-employed writer. The appointment replaces Melanie Bailey-Riffe, whose term has expired.
  • Randall S. Thomas, of Midway, is a child welfare and juvenile justice coordinator at NECCO.  The appointment replaces Cheryl D. Wyatt, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Catherine McBride to the commission to serve for a term expiring Oct. 20, 2016.

  • Catherine McBride, of Louisville, is self-employed.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Casey L. Allen to the Kentucky State Advisory Panel for Exceptional Children to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 8, 2015.

  • Casey L. Allen, of Paducah, is superintendent of Ballard County Schools. He represents parents. The appointment replaces Constance L. Hardesty, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Mary Michael Corbett to the Kentucky Arts Council to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Feb. 1, 2015.

  • Mary Michael Corbett, of Louisville, is a health policy and government relations officer at Norton Healthcare. The appointment replaces Carla B. Miller, who has resigned. Corbett shall chair the council.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the council to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2017:

  • Randall C. Vaughn, of Lexington, is an architect at James N. Gray Co.
  • Todd P. Lowe, of Simpsonville, is president at Parthenon LLC.
  • Jayne M. Waldrop, of Lexington, is an attorney and civic volunteer.
  • Kathleen T. Setterman, of Ashland, is executive director at Paramount Arts Center.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Telehealth Board to serve for terms expiring July 15, 2016:

  • William D. Hacker, of Lexington, is a retired physician. He represents third parties. The appointment replaces John P. Finney, whose term has expired.
  • Jamie S. Burton, of Science Hill, is CEO at The Adanta Group. She represents third parties. The appointment replaces William L. Hamilton, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed James M. Hickerson to the Henderson Community College Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring Dec. 6, 2018.

  • James M. Hickerson, of Henderson, is a teacher at Earle C. Clements Academy.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Ellen B. Kershaw to the Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy Board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 20, 2016.

  • Ellen B. Kershaw, of Louisville, is an advocacy director at American Lung Association. She represents the Kentucky Lung Association. The appointment replaces Betsy James, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant Steering Committee to serve for terms expiring May 16, 2015:

  • Kimberly D. Willhoite, of Frankfort, is principal of Clear Creek Elementary. She represents the state at large. The appointment replaces Viola J. Odum, whose term has expired.
  • Janice Field Almasi, of Lexington, is a professor at the University of Kentucky. She represents university professors with expertise in reading and literacy. The appointment replaces Lynne A. Smith, whose term has expired.
  • Carla Purcell, of Caneyville, is a district assessment coordinator and instructional supervisor at the Grayson County Board of Education. She represents primary teachers with expertise in reading and literacy. The appointment replaces Nancy Reed, whose term has expired.
  • Nancy F. Hulan, of Bowling Green, is a professor at Western Kentucky University. She represents university professors with expertise in reading and literacy. The appointment replaces Jacqueline Hansen, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Lindy Harmon to the committee to serve for a term expiring May 16, 2015.

  • Lindy Harmon, of Willisburg, is a reading recovery trainer at the University of Kentucky. She represents primary teachers with expertise in reading and literacy.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Stephen A. Coleman to the Environmental Quality Commission to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2017.

  • Stephen A. Coleman, of Frankfort, is retired. The appointment replaces Laura Knoth, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Kimberly R. Holmes to the commission to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2017.

  • Kimberly R. Holmes, of Lexington, is an assistant professor of public administration at Kentucky State University.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Technical Education Personnel Board to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2015:

  • Donna R. Tackett, of Lexington, is director of educational administration at the Office of Next Generation Schools. The appointment replaces David T. Beach.
  •  Karen Kidwell, of Lexington, is division director at the Office of Employment and Training. The appointment replaces Jare L. Schneider.
  • Kevin S. Hill, of Frankfort, is division director at the Kentucky Office of the Blind. The appointment replaces Chris Smith.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Commission on Human Rights to serve for terms expiring Sept. 12, 2015:

  • Mildred Hudson Diehl, of Fort Mitchell, is a community activist.
  • Duane Bonifer, of Greensburg, is director of public relations at Lindsey Wilson College.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the State Fair Board to serve for terms expiring Dec. 12, 2016:

  • Mike Libs, of Philpot, is a retired county clerk. He represents the state at large.
  • Fred K. Sarver, of Carlisle, is owner and manager of Cornerstone Farm. He represents the American Saddlebred Horse Association.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Kimberly L. Smith to the Kentucky Oral History Commission to serve for a term expiring Feb. 15, 2017.

  • Kimberly L. Smith, of Frankfort, is a retired history instructor. The appointment replaces Dawn C. Browning, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Feb. 15, 2017:

  • Sharon K. Hackworth, of Shelbyville, is a retired teacher.
  • Alfred S. Joseph, of Louisville, is an attorney at Stites & Harbison.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Kimberly M. Huston to the Tourism Development Finance Authority to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 31, 2014.

  • Kimberly M. Huston, of Bardstown, is president and chief operating officer at the Nelson County Economic Development Agency. The appointment replaces Terri C. Alderman, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Margaret M. Gripshover as State Geographer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.

  • Margaret M. Gripshover, of Bowling Green, is a geography professor at Western Kentucky University. The appointment replaces Karl B. Raitz, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service to serve for terms expiring Jan. 3, 2016:

  • Adam J. English, of Lexington, is assistant general manager of the Lexington Legends. The appointment replaces Bobby D. Rorer, whose term has expired.
  • Megan Mortis, of Henderson, is director of development at the Alzheimer’s Association. The appointment replaces Daniel Z. Zaluski, whose term has expired.
  • Kimberly S. Huffman, of Lexington, is a pharmaceutical sales representative at Eli Lilly. The appointment replaces Nathaniel J. Mick, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Jan. 3, 2016:

  • Mary Sue Hubbard, of Murray, is a nurse, performance improvement coordinator and risk manager at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
  • William K. Mays, of Bowling Green, is a certified public accountant at Holland CPAs.
  • William Wootsen Farmer Jr., of Frankfort, is president of United Way of the Bluegrass.
  • Janet L. Gates, of Frankfort, is a social worker and director of senior companion programs at Blue Grass Community Action Partnership.
  • Lawrence L. Winburn, of Louisville, is a union organizer at Laborers Local 576.
  • Betty J. Martin, of Frankfort, is retired.
  • Evelyn C. Claffy, of Frankfort, is a retired teacher and guidance counselor.
  • Tamara K. Cox, of Mount Vernon, is a supervisor and coordinator at Daniel Boone Community Action.
