“The reality of entertainment districts is that reinvesting and evolving offerings are critical to the long-term health of the development,” said Jim Layson, general manager of Fourth Street Live! “Our passion and commitment to keep Fourth Street on the cutting edge is one of the major reasons why it has remained Kentucky’s leading destination over the past eight years with over 4.5 million visitors per year.”

The Kill Devil Club, a cocktail lounge, originated in Kansas City, Mo., and was named one of “The 21 Hottest Cocktail Bars Across the U.S.” by Eater, an online food magazine. Kill devil is the historic English predecessor to the word “rum.” The Kill Devil Club will feature the largest rum selection in Louisville, along with an innovative cocktail menu created by mixologist Ryan Maybee, founder of the club. Maybee is the first person to achieve the BAR Masters Certification through Beverage Alcohol Resource, the equivalent of a Master Sommelier, and has been featured in Wine Enthusiast, Food and Wine, Vogue, GQ, Esquire, Vanity Fair, and Bartender Magazine. The menu will feature a variety of cocktails with made-from-scratch elements, such as syrups and fresh-squeezed juices.

The Kill Devil Club will occupy an intimate 2,500 s.f. space on the second floor of Fourth Street Live! The interior design will boast of dark walls with antique stencils, a hammered tin ceiling and eclectic art throughout the venue. Music will include electro swing, blues and classic funk with occasional live music.

The Marquee Bar will be adjacent to the Kill Devil Club. The nightclub hopes to define destination clubbing at Fourth Street Live!

“We’ve picked the best elements of our favorite clubs around the country to deliver an unimaginable nightlife experience,” Tony Thomas, managing partner of both establishments.

The Marquee Bar will deliver a visual spectacle with the most sophisticated state-of-the-art sound and lighting system collaborated with the club’s dance music. Bottle service will be available in the raised VIP seating area with private tables set amongst a backdrop incorporating over one mile of controllable LED lights. It will feature a spacious dance floor and two Italian marble bars.

The Kill Devil Club will be open Thursday through Saturday and The Marquee Bar will be open Friday and Saturday.
