New fishing series and off-road park coming to Kentucky this spring

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 25, 2013) – Kayak fishing has been growing in popularity over recent years, and a new fishing group in central Kentucky is bringing a great lineup of tournaments to the region.

yakmastersThe Bluegrass Yakmasters are set to begin their inaugural tournament season this April.  They will host their first Open Tournament, sponsored by Bank of Lexington, on Saturday, April 6, at Cedar Creek Lake in Stanford.

The Open Tournament is open to anyone. The entry fee is $40 and anglers must fish from a kayak or canoe. The Open is a 100-percent payback tournament, and there are other prize packages from Hook1 Kayak Fishing Gear, NRS, Cabin Creek Baits and Power Team Lures.

There will be a raffle for a new fishing kayak. Bluegrass Yakmasters tournaments are catch-photo-release style tournaments, with the three longest black bass counting towards your tournament total. The Quality Inn in Danville is the official hotel for the Open Tournament and there are special rates for participants. Cedar Creek Lake is a 784-acre trophy largemouth bass lake managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Field & Stream magazine recently ranked it as the 30th best bass lake in the country.

Northeastern Kentucky will soon be getting a new off-road destination

Rush Off-Road is located just outside of Ashland in the community of Rush. This new off-road park has 7,000 acres and more than 100 miles of trails to explore. The grand opening is set for Saturday, April 20, and will feature live music by The Whipps and great barbecue from Andy’s BBQ.

All types of off-road vehicles are welcome at Rush Off-Road. Located just 15 minutes from Interstate 64, there are numerous restaurants and hotel options nearby. Camping is allowed on the park with a permit. Rush Off-Road has trails for beginners as well as plenty of challenging trails and climbs for more experienced riders.
