Young Professionals Association of Louisville announces 2013 Award Winners

Louisville, Ky, (June 6, 2013) — The Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) relies on members’ volunteer service for all operations, and each year YPAL honors members who exhibit extraordinary commitment. YPAL today announced its 2013 honorees.

The Young Professional of the Year award is intended to recognize the efforts of outstanding young professionals that have made great strides and contributions to YPAL who have played an essential leadership role in establishing, contributing to and growing the group.  Five Young Professionals of the Year were selected for their dedication to YPAL

• David Sowers, Yum! Brands

• Rudy Spencer, LG&E KU

Samantha Abell of MCM received the YPAL Cares Volunteer of the Year award. Samantha demonstrated sustained, long-term commitment to her volunteer roles and leadership in her service.

The President’s Award recognizes a community partner who shows continued dedication to the development of young professionals.  This year the award was given to Leadership Louisville Center President and YPAL founder, Cynthia Knapek.

The YP Workplace Award was presented to Yum! Brands for their efforts to promote a healthy work-life balance, encourages young employees to become actively engaged in the community and provides young professionals opportunities for growth and development.

The Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) was created in 1999 after a study showed Louisville was losing its young people after college graduation to larger cities. Since its inception, YPAL has built credibility as a social and professional organization for young professionals in Louisville and Southern Indiana to be a conduit to connect to their communities. YPAL strives to connect and engage Metro Louisville’s young professionals through community, professional and social opportunities.
