17 Kentucky bourbon bars named among America’s best

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 12, 2013) — Seventeen Kentucky establishments have been named to The Bourbon Review’s list of America’s 55 Best Bourbon Bars.

pouring bourbonThe bourbon industry publication has teamed up with Four Roses Bourbon for a nationwide “toast” to each of the bars that were selected. This is the fifth year the magazine has published the list.

The toast will take place on August 28 in conjunction with Four Roses’ Year of the Toast campaign (www.yearofthetoast.com), where winning bourbon bars’ toast will be highlighted in social media. The Bourbon Review and Four Roses Bourbon also encourage fans to engage in the “toasting” effort by toasting and tagging their favorite bourbon bars of the 55 selected using hashtag #55Toast.

The 55 Bourbon Bars selected by The Bourbon Review are broken down by five regions: Bourbon Country; Northeast; Midwest; Southern; and Western.

The Kentucky bars named to the list include:

Jonathan’s at Gratz Park (Lexington)

Bluegrass Tavern (Lexington)

Paulie’s Toasted Barrel (Lexington)

Arcadium (Lexington)

Parlay Social (Lexington)

The Silver Dollar (Louisville)

Down One Bourbon Bar (Louisville)

Old Seelbach Bar (Louisville)

The Brown Hotel Bar (Louisville)

Proof on Main (Louisville)

St. Charles Exchange (Louisville)

Haymarket Whiskey Bar (Louisville)

Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar (Louisville)

The Miller House (Owensboro)

The Old Talbot Tavern (Bardstown)

The Rick House (Bardstown)

Charr’d Bourbon Kitchen & Lounge (Louisville)

“The criteria for the list was simple,” said Justin Thompson of the Bourbon Review.  “The bar needed to showcase Bourbon in a very proud manner, by educating their patrons about Bourbon and either providing them with a superior selection or a combination of a great selection along with having a reputation for showcasing Bourbon in their cocktails.”

Four Roses’ Year of the Toast campaign is a project celebrating the brand’s milestone 125th anniversary allowing fans of the brand to view a number of toasts for any occasion, read toasting tips and submit their own original toasts at www.yearofthetoast.com. One toast submission will be selected and featured on next year’s Limited Edition Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon, along with the name and hometown of the person who submitted it.
