Former Central Ky radio figure Leland Conway joining WHAS talk lineup in Louisville

Leland ConwayLouisville, Ky. – September 4, 2013 – 84WHAS, Kentuckiana’s NewsRadio 84, today announced that Leland Conway will join the station as midday host, effective Monday, September 16, 2013.  “The Leland Conway Show” will air weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

A graduate of Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky., Conway is already familiar to many Kentuckians for his past work on the play-by-play sports crews at Georgetown College and Eastern Kentucky University. In addition, he also previously served as a commentator on WTVQ TV, and for six years hosted a successful talk show on NewsRadio 630 WLAP in Lexington. Conway most recently hosted a daily talk show on 1140 WRVA in Richmond, Va., where he will continue to be heard weekdays  3-6:00 p.m. EST.

“This is an exciting appointment for 84WHAS Radio and the Kentuckiana community. We talked to many highly qualified and experienced on-air personalities, but Leland’s talents really shined brightly,” said Kelly Carls, regional programming manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment.  “His wit, energy and longstanding Kentucky roots make him a great fit. We’re extremely happy he’s returning to the Bluegrass State.”

“It is an honor to join the 84WHAS team. As a native Kentuckian, I grew up with 84WHAS,” said Conway.  “It’s as much a part of the Bluegrass State as hot browns and horse racing. I am excited to once again be a part of the lively conversation in Kentucky.”

Fans can listen to “The Leland Conway Show” on 84WHAS, via the station’s website, whas.com, as well as on iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s all-in-one digital radio service.
