Republic Bank hands out Central Kentucky community service We CARE Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky (Sept. 13, 2013) – The winners of Republic Bank’s eighth annual We CARE Awards for Central Kentucky were announced Thursday night at an awards ceremony at The Hilary J. Boone Center, emceed by WKYT TV Sports Anchor Dave Baker.

In 2006 Republic Bank launched the first We CARE Awards as a way to give recognition and appreciation to local companies whose employees do great things for the community. The award was created to publicly congratulate companies who stress the four elements contained in the CARE name itself – Community Activity Recognition Enterprise.

Twenty-nine nominations were accepted from companies who met the We CARE criteria, and were judged on how they encourage employees to become involved in volunteer activities, either during or after work hours. They were also evaluated on how they support community-based initiatives through philanthropic efforts and neighborhood assistance. Winners were selected by an independent panel of judges consisting of previous winners and community leaders. Of the 29 finalists, seven companies were selected as winners and 2 were selected for Community Champion Awards for outstanding work on individual projects.

The 2013 winners are …

• Barr, Anderson & Roberts, PSC

• Kroger Co. – Lexington Region

• Macy’s – Fayette Mall

• Sayre School

• Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC
