Kentucky Proud Rooibee Red Tea selected for Google micro-kitchens

Louisville-made beverage handpicked from 100 companies

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 12, 2013) — Rooibee Red Tea won over thousands of Google workers becoming one of only 13 new products now permanently available at the company’s California headquarters.

Google invited C “Tea”O Heather Howell and National Sales Director Mike Fulkerson to its annual Micro-Kitchens Fair in September where employees sampled 100 different foods and beverages. They then voted on their favorites for permanent availability at the Fortune 500 company.

Howell and Fulkerson received word this week Google selected Rooibee Red Tea as one of four beverages.

“We met so many wonderful people during our visit to Google. I am so excited they loved Rooibee Red Tea and thrilled they can now enjoy our Kentucky Proud drink every day,” Howell said after learning the news. Fortune magazine currently ranks Google as the best company to work for in the top 500 partially because of its attention to wellness, which includes providing health-conscious foods to its employees.

Rooibee Red Tea is the only bottled USDA organic red tea made from the South African rooibos bush. Founded in 2009 in Louisville, Ky., Rooibee Red Tea provides a healthy, caffeine-free drink the whole family can enjoy. Under the leadership of Howell, who joined the company in 2010, Rooibee Red Tea increased sales by 330 percent in three years. Originally sold at local farmers markets, customers can now purchase five unique flavors at stores in every state in the country. For more information, visit www.rooibeeredtea.com.
