Owensboro Health named official sports medicine provider for Kentucky Wesleyan College athletics

OWENSBORO, Ky. (Dec. 10, 2013) – Owensboro Health has entered into an agreement with Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) to serve as the official provider of sports medicine and athletic training services for the KWC athletic program.

“This partnership with Owensboro Health is an exciting step for the Kentucky Wesleyan Athletics Department,” said Jim Askins, director of athletics for Kentucky Wesleyan College. “Our organizations share a common vision of health and wellness that we feel will have a positive impact on all of our athletes.”

Owensboro Health Orthopedics is now providing athletic training coverage and medical support services at all KWC football home games and Men’s and Women’s basketball home games. The KWC athletic program has a total of 278 student athletes and includes football, basketball, soccer, baseball, cross country, softball, tennis, volleyball and indoor and outdoor track and field.

“Our team is honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the KWC athletic program,” said Dr. Reid Wilson, an orthopedic surgeon with Owensboro Health Orthopedics. “They have a first class group of student athletes and a great leadership team. We are looking forward to helping keep their athletes healthy and at the top of their game.”

The Owensboro Health Orthopedics team includes Wilson, Dr. Anthony McBride and Dr. Mark McGinnis. They will provide on-campus training room clinic each week to triage, evaluate and treat injuries. The partnership will also include the development of an athletic physical program for KWC for the 2014-2015 school year.
