CVG lands new Allegiant discount flight service to Punta Gorda/Fort Myers, Fla.

HEBRON, Ky. (February 14, 2014) – On Friday, Allegiant launches twice-weekly service from CVG to Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers, Fla.,  This is the second inaugural flight this week for Allegiant at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Airport officials announced a new conference and special ceremonies for this afternoon. A ribbon cutting is set for 1:30 p.m. with the first scheduled Allegiant flight to PGD departing at 2:31 p.m.

On Wednesday, Allegiant Travel Co. launched inaugural service from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to Orlando/Sanford, FL (SFB). Also Wednesday at CVG, Frontier expanded its service to Trenton, N.J. (TTN).

“We are honored to welcome the Allegiant Travel Co. as the ninth airline to our family of carriers at CVG,” said Candace McGraw, CEO of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “Our passengers want to go to Florida and now they have a vacation centered low-cost carrier option.”

Allegiant’s 166-seat MD-82 will fly two-day-a-week service from CVG to Orlando on Wednesday and Saturday and two-day-a-week service from CVG to Ft.Myers/Punta Gorda on Monday and Friday. Tickets and vacation packages can be booked through Allegiant.com.

In addition, Frontier is expanded service from CVG to Trenton, N.J. on Wednesday. Frontier launched service from CVG to Denver (DEN) in May 2013. Frontier has already announced expanded service to Denver starting in April 2014.

“We are excited Frontier is adding its second destination from CVG with the new nonstop service to Trenton.  The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community has strongly embraced Frontier,” said McGraw. “We are proud to bring another new convenient low cost option to our business and leisure passengers.”

Frontier Airlines is a low-cost airline that operates from a primary hub at Denver International Airport. This new service will operate on spacious 138-seat Airbus 319 aircraft, which offer more customer amenities. Flights on Frontier from CVG can be booked at FlyFrontier.com.
