LBAR members sell 787 Bluegrass-area homes in April

Home sales decreased 3 percent from April 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 20, 2014) — Residential real estate sales by members of the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors (LBAR) sold 787 homes in April, totaling $134,143,643.

“The 2014 sales continue to be a driving force in the economy with the strengthening of the local economy, the beautiful spring weather, and realtors are staying busy taking calls, showing homes and writing offers,” LBAR said in a news release.

The Bluegrass area had 1,141 pending home sales for the month of April 2014, a 16-percent increase from April 2013’s 977 pending homes. There were 1,681 new listings in April and a total of 5,313 properties for sale, according to Linda Wiley, president of the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors.

The year-to-date 2014 residential single-family sales decreased 4 percent from 2,492 sales to date in 2013 versus 2,383 sales to date in 2014. The year-to-date 2014 townhouse/condo sales increased 7 percent from 192 sales to date in 2013 versus 206 sales to date in 2014.

Home sales decreased 3 percent, from 745 in April 2013 to 722 sales closed in April 2014. Residential average days on market increased for the same time period, rising from an average of 84 days in April 2013 to 94 days in April 2014. The median sales price had no percentage of change from $145,500 in April 2013

Townhouses/condos saw a 2 percent gain in sales, 64 in April 2013 to 65 in April 2014. The median sales price decreased 5 percent from $113,000 in April 2013 to $107,500 in April 2014, with the average days on the market rising to 121 days in April 2014.
