CORBIN, Ky. (Oct. 27, 2014) — Forcht Broadcasting Corporation of Corbin has reached a definitive agreement with Commonwealth Broadcasting Company of Marion and Taylor Counties to purchase the assets of radio stations WCKQ-FM “Q-104” and WTCO-AM “ESPN Radio” in Campbellsville and WGRK-FM “K-Country 105.7” in Greensburg. The agreement is subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
“We’re very excited about adding these stations to the Forcht Broadcasting family. They have a long history of serving their local communities, listeners and clients. The staffs are very professional, hardworking, and in tune with the needs of their areas,” Forcht Broadcasting President Mike Tarter said.
Forcht Broadcasting was founded in 1981 by Terry E. Forcht of Corbin and currently operates 20 radio stations in Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. Kentucky stations include WHOP-FM and AM, Hopkinsville; WAIN-FM and AM, Columbia; WYKY-FM and WTLO-AM, Somerset; WWEL-FM, WANV-FM, and WFTG-AM, London; WXKQ-FM and WTCW-AM, Whitesburg; and WSIP-FM and AM, WKYH-AM, Paintsville. Indiana stations are WCVL-AM, WIMC-FM and WCDQ-FM, Crawfordsville. Illinois stations are WIKK-FM, Newton, and WVLN-AM and WSEI-FM, Olney.
Forcht Broadcasting is the largest group of radio stations headquartered in Kentucky. The stations are affiliated with a variety of news and sports networks, including the Kentucky News Network, Big Blue Sports Network for the University of Kentucky, ESPN Radio, NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch, Craftsman Truck and IRL Racing Networks, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Nashville Predators, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts and local high school sports.
