Lexington artists selected for murals at new Kroger

Store expected to open in January

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2014) — Four Lexington artists have seen selected to paint murals at the new Kroger at 704 East Euclid Ave., Kroger and LexArts announced.

John Lackey of Homegrown Press was chosen for the exterior mural. The project, budgeted at $25,000 will be put on the side the building facing Marquis Ave.

University of Kentucky associate professor of architecture Liz Swanson and Brocoloco‘s Aaron and Jared Scales were selected for the inside murals. Budgeted at

$10,000 each, the murals will be utilized in a seating area and the produce area.

Work on the murals, which will be created on panels at off-site locations, will begin immediately. The new Kroger is scheduled to be completed in January 2015. A public ceremony will be held to unveil the murals.
