UofL Wendy L. Novak Diabetes Care Center earns accreditation

Accredited by American Association of Diabetes Educators

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2015) — The Wendy L. Novak Diabetes Care Center of the University of Louisville Pediatric Endocrinology Division in the Department of Pediatrics has been named an accredited program with the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).

aadeDiabetes self-management education is a process led by a diabetes educator that helps people with prediabetes or diabetes learn how to self-manage their condition. The goal is to arm each person with the necessary knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their diabetes. Accreditation ensures that each program meets the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support.

“Diabetes education is underutilized by the people who need it most,” said Leslie Kolb, director of accreditation at AADE. “The Diabetes Education Accreditation Program validates that a program meets the National Standards and assures the participants are receiving quality education to help support their needs in self-managing their diabetes.”

The Wendy L. Novak Diabetes Care Center is located at UofL Physicians-Pediatric Endocrinology, 601 S. Floyd St., Suite 403.
