Baptist Health names Lourdes Baez director of Government Relations & Advocacy

Will be responsible for developing a government relations program for Baptist Health

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2015) — Baptist Health has named Lourdes C. Baez as its first director of Government Relations & Advocacy.

Baez, who took over the position on Jan. 12, most recently worked as policy analyst for the Kentucky Senate. Before that she was the Senate’s communications director. Her diverse background also includes work as a management consultant for PwC Consulting, as political staff member for the U.S. State Department in Buenos Aires, and as political analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency.

Baez is a master’s degree candidate in international relations and international economics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and Latin American Studies, graduating cum laude from Wellesley College.

Baez will be responsible for developing a government relations program for Baptist Health and fostering positive relationships with federal and state legislators and regulatory agencies in order to promote Baptist Health’s mission, vision, priorities and interests.

She will be the company’s primary contact with trade associations, industry groups, and government officials as Baptist Health works to improve community and individual health, reduce health risks, improve access to care and promote wellness. She reports to Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer Janet Norton.
