South Shore BioFuels looking to expand to Greenup County

Would create 46 new jobs

GREENUP, Ky. (Feb. 13, 2015) — South Shore BioFuels, a wood pellet company based out of Northern Kentucky, is negotiating to expand to Greenup County that would create 46 jobs to a new alternate energy plant, the Daily Independent in Ashland reports.

imagesA public hearing will be set within the next two weeks to discuss the plans. If the plant does get approved, talks may begin on leasing the Big Sandy building and the land behind it for the plant site.

The plant’s investment would be around $20 million and they would also ask for a grant through the commission to buy equipment.

The plant will also need to seek an air permit if approved.
