Firefighters continue to fight GE Appliance Park fire

No injuries have been reported

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 3, 2015) — About 200 firefighters are battling a six-alarm fire at GE Appliance Park in Louisville, The Courier-Journal reports. Residents living within a half mile of the fire have been advised to stay indoors to avoid noxious smoke. There are no known hazardous materials in the park.

The fire is located to building 6, which is mostly used to store plastic parts, reports WLKY in Louisville. The structure has since collapsed. No one was injured, but workers were inside the building at the time the fire started. Cause of the fire has not been reported.

The Appliance Park has added 400 jobs in the past year and the park is the size of more than 34 football fields, according to the company’s website. About 1,000 employees work at the park.
