Louisville musicians’ group accepts agreement with Louisville Orchestra, Inc.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 25, 2012) — The Louisville Orchestra Musicians Association voted Tuesday night to accept a contract based on requirements proposed by Louisville Orchestra, Inc.

Both sides agreed to compromises, according to a press release from the association.

The agreement allows for binding arbitration, a reduction to 57 orchestra members and a compromise on the musicians’ sick day pool. The musicians also are giving up their sick days and vacation days for the coming year.

It also calls for a bridge contract with the consultant overseeing operations and making recommendations on a longer contract with the orchestra musicians, as well as about future orchestra initiatives and management policies.

A full agreement is expected to be signed later this week.
