LEXINGTON, Ky. — Jon Ebbert of Blue Rose Farm purchased Arcangelo for $35,000 at Keeneland’s 2021 September Yearling Sale and today raced him to win the 155th running of the $1.5 million Belmont (G1) Presented by NYRA Bets at Belmont Park. Javier Castellano rode Arcangelo to win the third leg of the Triple Crown and notch his first Belmont. Jena Antonucci became the first woman to train a Belmont winner.

Finishing second and third, respectively, were two additional graduates of the same September Sale, champion Forte and Keeneland’s recent Toyota Blue Grass (G1) winner, Tapit Trice.

Arcangelo is the 11th Keeneland sales graduate to win the Belmont since 2006, joining Mo Donegal (2022), Sir Winston (2019), undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify (2018), Creator (2016), Palace Malice (2013), Ruler On Ice (2011), Drosselmeyer (2010), Da’Tara (2008), Rags to Riches (2007) and Jazil (2006).

Bred by Don Alberto Corporation, Arcangelo was consigned to the September Sale by Gainesway, agent.
